MAJOR UPDATE: Pittsburgh Steelers Confirms Blockbuster Trade For A Top Talented QB

The Pittsburgh Steelers are expected to evaluate the 2025 NFL Draft class with a focus on quarterbacks, though first-round options appear to be off the table. Instead, the team may look to address the position on day two of the draft, potentially targeting a prospect in the third round to balance value and other roster needs.

One intriguing option is Ohio State’s top QB, who has been steadily climbing draft boards and is now projected as a third-round pick. Howard’s development and performance have caught the attention of scouts, making him a potential fit for the Steelers as they seek a long-term option at quarterback.

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette insider Gerry Dulac believes Ohio State quarterback Will Howard could be a logical target for the Steelers in the 2025 NFL Draft. While Dulac doesn’t see the team spending a first-round pick on a quarterback, he notes that the third round might be the sweet spot for Pittsburgh to address the position.

“Shocked might be a strong word, but I would be shocked if they would devote a No. 1 pick to a quarterback this year,” Dulac said. “But I wouldn’t fall over if I saw a quarterback go in the third round, who they feel can be that guy behind Justin Fields, if you will. I will tell you that in the last three days, I heard Will Howard’s name as an intriguing guy both as a passer and a runner.”

Howard’s dual-threat abilities and rising draft stock make him an appealing option as the Steelers explore depth behind Fields while addressing other roster needs early in the draft.

Will Howard, who transferred to Ohio State from Kansas State, has had an interesting journey. At Kansas State, he was a multiple-year starter, gaining valuable experience. However, it was his time at Ohio State that truly helped his draft stock rise. While the Buckeyes’ offense was inconsistent early in the season, Howard’s play took a significant leap in the College Football Playoff, helping the offense reach an elite level. This improvement has made him a more intriguing prospect, with scouts taking notice of his potential both as a passer and a runner.
