LSU football has made significant strides in recruiting, securing several standout transfers for their 2025 class. However, they also scored a key win for the 2026 class by locking in a talented four-star wide receiver. A top recruit from Airline High School in Bossier City, Louisiana, has decided to commit to LSU, choosing the Tigers over Alabama, Texas A&M, and other rivals.
He had initially committed to Mississippi State in June 2024, but later flipped to LSU in November. Despite continued interest from Alabama, Texas A&M, and other SEC schools, Darby confirmed his decision to remain with LSU, stating that the school is the best fit for him. He also emphasized his loyalty to Louisiana, saying, “The best in the boot stay in the boot.”
This commitment represents a significant local recruiting victory for LSU head coach Brian Kelly. He is one of the few four-star recruits from Louisiana in the 2026 class, adding to the growing talent pool. Darby’s pledge brings LSU’s total early commitments for the 2026 cycle to six, with four of those being four-star prospects.
Among the other key commitments are defensive linemen Richard Anderson, who ranks as the No. 3 player in Louisiana for the class, and his Edna Carr High teammate Aiden Hall, a four-star safety. Another standout recruit is defensive lineman JaReyian McCoy, a 6-foot-6 prospect from Mississippi.
LSU is also vying for Louisiana’s top 2026 prospect, Lamar Brown, a 6-foot-4, 275-pound offensive lineman from University Lab High in Baton Rouge. Brown is reportedly leaning toward LSU, and if he commits, he would be a major addition to the Tigers’ already impressive 2026 class.
