Ground-breaking Commitment: Huskies Land Highly Sought-after Top-tier Talent

The Huskies are making moves in the 2026 recruiting class, focusing on securing top-tier talent. While last week’s spotlight was on offensive targets, today we’re shifting gears to highlight some of the top defensive prospects.

One key target is Salesi Moa, a highly sought-after safety from Fremont High School in California. Ranked as the No. 38 player in the class, Moa has garnered offers from top programs across the nation, including Utah, Michigan, Michigan State, and Washington. The Huskies have made it clear how much they value him, going as far as visiting him during the offseason to emphasize their interest. Moa remains a priority as the Huskies aim to make a significant statement with his recruitment.

The Huskies are also making a strong push for 4-star defensive back Davon Benjamin from Oaks Christian High School in California. Benjamin is ranked as the No. 47 overall player in the 2026 class and the No. 4 cornerback nationally. His recruitment is highly competitive, with powerhouse programs like Oregon, USC, Miami, and Ohio State vying for his commitment.

The UW coaching staff made their interest clear by visiting Benjamin this week, signaling that he is a top priority for the Huskies in the 2026 cycle. Landing Benjamin would be a major win for the program as they continue to target elite talent.

At edge rusher, the Huskies are aggressively pursuing Anthony Jones from Crean Lutheran High School in California. Jones, one of the top edge prospects in the West, is ranked as the No. 16 edge rusher in the country. He recently narrowed his recruitment down to a list that includes Washington, Arizona State, Michigan, Tennessee, and UCLA. Adding a high-caliber pass rusher like Jones is a priority for the Huskies, and they are pushing hard to land him.

Closer to home, the Huskies are targeting local 4-star edge rusher Derek Colman-Brusa from Kennedy Catholic High School. Colman-Brusa is ranked as the No. 137 overall player and the No. 12 edge rusher in the country. With his brother already on the Huskies’ roster, Washington appears to be the early favorite to keep him in-state. However, they face tough competition from Ohio State, USC, and Oregon for his commitment.

The Huskies are casting a wide net in their 2026 recruiting efforts, focusing on top prospects both locally and nationally. The players mentioned above represent strong opportunities for Washington to build a dominant future. That’s all for today—stay tuned and follow me @asieverkropp for updates!
