The Philadelphia Eagles have a chance to secure their second Super Bowl appearance in three seasons as they face the Washington Commanders in the NFC Championship Game.
While the Eagles are strong favorites, a win isn’t guaranteed, especially with Washington’s rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels showcasing incredible composure and a flair for dramatic plays.
Adding to the challenge, the Eagles are dealing with injuries, with quarterback Jalen Hurts (knee), defensive back Quinyon Mitchell (shoulder), offensive lineman Cam Jurgens (knee), and tight end Dallas Goedert (ankle) all appearing on the injury report. Hurts and Mitchell fully participated in practice, but Jurgens and Goedert were sidelined, along with offensive guard Fred Johnson, who was absent due to a personal matter.
Hurts missed the final two regular-season games due to injury and sustained a knee issue during the divisional-round victory over the Los Angeles Rams.
Despite his condition, Hurts will need to perform at his peak against Washington. If he struggles to succeed in the passing game, Daniels will have plenty of chances to lead the Commanders to an upset.
Mitchell has been a crucial part of the Eagles’ defensive turnaround. After a lackluster performance last season, the unit has recently emerged as one of the league’s best.
The rookie defensive back recorded 12 passes defended during the regular season and tallied six solo tackles in the wild-card win over the Green Bay Packers.
