Breaking News: Vikings Confirms Intriguing Deal For a ‘High Speed’ Top Veteran Wide Receiver In Blockbuster

The 2025 NFL Draft is just a little over a month away, and while the Minnesota Vikings don’t have an abundance of picks this year, it’s hard to count out general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah from making some draft-day moves.

The Vikings are expected to focus on a few key positions, with the interior of both the offensive and defensive lines standing out as areas of need. According to Ben Goessling of the Star Tribune, Minnesota has identified Oregon defensive tackle Derrick Harmon as a priority target heading into next month’s draft.

The Vikings also have clear needs at wide receiver and in the secondary, areas they’ll likely address during the draft. Ben Goessling reported via Twitter that Minnesota has shown interest in another potential draft target — Baylor wide receiver.

Goessling tweeted:
“The #Vikings met with Baylor WR at the Big 12 Pro Day, source said. he ran a 4.32 40 and averaged 17 yards per reception over the past three years. Could be worth keeping in mind as a late-round deep threat.”

Baldwin played four seasons at Baylor, where he compiled 99 catches for 1,673 yards and 13 touchdowns. He also contributed on the ground, adding 178 rushing yards and two additional touchdowns on 19 carries (including passes behind the line of scrimmage). His most productive season came in 2023, when he recorded 38 receptions for 623 yards and 4 scores.

From his film, it’s clear the Vikings are targeting a certain archetype at wide receiver for Kevin O’Connell’s offense. Similar to newly signed free agent Rondale Moore, Baldwin is an undersized but explosive playmaker, listed at 5’9″ and clocking a blazing 4.32 40-yard dash at the Big 12 Pro Day.

Following that standout showing, the Killeen, Texas native met with Vikings personnel on-site. Baldwin would bring a level of quickness and elusiveness to Minnesota’s offense that has been lacking since the current coaching staff arrived.

Vikings have immediate and future need at wide receiver

Jordan Addison, who recently turned 23 and is entering his third NFL season, has lived up to his billing as a former first-round pick by the Vikings in 2022. However, he’s expected to miss around three games in 2025 due to a suspension stemming from a DUI arrest last offseason.

Looking ahead, it’s unlikely Minnesota will offer Addison a contract extension once his rookie deal expires, especially with Justin Jefferson locked into a $35 million-per-year contract. While wide receiver may not seem like the Vikings’ most pressing need at first glance, it has clearly become a priority this offseason.

Earlier this week, Minnesota addressed their immediate need for a WR3 by signing free agent Rondale Moore. The 24-year-old, a former second-round pick from Purdue, brings elite speed and agility but is coming off a lost 2024 season due to injury. The Vikings are hoping Moore can bounce back and provide a spark to Kevin O’Connell’s offense.
