Chicago Bulls star shares his regret after Miami Heat heartbreak

Nikola Vucevic shares his regret over missing the last shot attempt: “It didn’t end up being a great shot”

Every aspect is emphasized in a game as close as the Chicago Bulls’ setback to the Miami Heat on Saturday night. With seconds remaining in the game, Chicago forward Nikola Vucevic, who had a spectacular night with 12 points and 11 rebounds, missed his possible game-winning basket, leaving the door open for the Miami Heat.

Jimmy Butler took advantage of the situation, nailing a midrange jumper as time expired to give Miami a 118-116 victory. Vooch later lamented his shot decision, stating he might have done much better with a better shot attempt.

Not a great shot

With 31 seconds remaining and the game tied at 116, the Bulls recovered possession of the ball. The ball was sent to Vooch at the top of the arc, where he was defended by Heat big man Kevin Love. Vucevic thought he had gained position on Love with his initial stride to the basket, but Love stayed in step, forcing the Chicago center to attempt an uncomfortable shot that missed.

“Could have gotten a better look out of (the last one). I thought I had him on the initial (move). I should have taken one more dribble and been a little more patient,” Vooch said.

“It didn’t end up being a great shot, half layup, half left hand hook shot. So, (I) definitely could take that one back and make a better decision. But it is what it is at this point. It’s part of the game. Got to make those plays, and we didn’t tonight; definitely hurts.”

Should have been a traveling violation

Vucevic should have been penalized for a traveling violation before to his final shot attempt, according to the NBA’s Last Two Minute report. Regarding Vooch’s departure, the report stated:

“Vucevic (CHI) slides his pivot foot prior to releasing his dribble,” according to the article.
