According to a recent update, Sunderland are interested in signing a “amazing footballer” during the January transfer window, but will face heavy competition for his services.

The Black Cats have been through a turbulent journey in recent weeks, after the sacking of manager Tony Mowbray. He was removed of his duties earlier this month, with those at the top of the club believing he had carried the team as far as it could go. The quest for the perfect man to succeed Mowbray has begun, with intriguing young Reims manager Will Still emerging as the prominent prospect to take over at the Stadium of Light.
Aside from the management issue at Sunderland, the club will have the option to make new additions soon, with the January transfer market looming.
Several players have been linked with moves to the Black Cats, with Sevilla youngster Musa Drammeh touted as a potential target in the near future.
Estudiantes attacking midfielder Benjamin Rollheiser is another who has been tipped to join Sunderland, with the 23-year-old having previously been compared to Lionel Messi, which is about the finest praise a footballer can receive.
Sunderland eyeing Amad Diallo loan deal
According to Football Insider, Sunderland are interested in sealing a January reunion with Amad Diallo, snapping him up on loan from Manchester United as a welcome present for their potential new manager.
The Black Cats are said to have “registered their interest” in the 21-year-old, although Leicester City are also interested, posing serious competition. Some Premier League and European clubs are even “monitoring his situation,” demonstrating how highly regarded he is as a young player.
Given how well he performed on loan at the Stadium of Light last season, this is a piece of transfer news that Sunderland fans may welcome.
Diallo is such a dynamic footballer, and while United may opt to keep him beyond January – they aren’t exactly prospering in attacking areas right now – the Black Cats should leap at the chance to bring him back.
Mowbray has recently described the teenage attacker as a “amazing footballer,” and he is someone who may breathe new life into Sunderland’s Championship promotion push, especially if their eventual new manager – perhaps Still – sees him as a great alternative to bring in.
Diallo has already scored and assisted once for United in nine appearances for arguably the biggest team in the world, and given the impression he made with the Black Cats last time around, it is difficult to think of any downsides to him returning to the club for the second half of the season.
