Former Cowboys player roasts Jerry Jones, team decision making

Charvarius Ward, who had a brief tenure with the Dallas Cowboys, recently criticized team owner Jerry Jones and his decision-making.

It’s not uncommon for former Cowboys players to take shots at the organization after leaving. A recent example is veteran defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence, who signed with the Seattle Seahawks in free agency. Lawrence questioned the Cowboys’ ability to win a Super Bowl and took jabs at star edge rusher Micah Parsons on his way out.

Now, another ex-Cowboy has joined in.

Ward, who joined Dallas as an undrafted free agent after the 2018 NFL Draft, reflected on his time with the team. Competing in training camp, he claimed he was shutting down receivers in practice. However, he didn’t hold back on his thoughts about the Cowboys’ front office, saying, “I was strappin’ all them boys. I thought I was making the team, but Dallas doesn’t make a lot of good decisions.”

Before the final roster cuts, the Cowboys traded Ward to the Kansas City Chiefs in exchange for offensive lineman Parker Ehinger.

That move ultimately worked in Ward’s favor—he won a Super Bowl with the Chiefs in 2020 and later started in Super Bowl LVIII for the San Francisco 49ers. Meanwhile, Ehinger lasted just one season as a backup in Dallas.

Looking back, it’s clear who won that trade.
