Just In: Dallas Cowboys Trade Lands Elite Offensive Weapon for Dak Prescott

The Dallas Cowboys need a receiver, and one mock expert predicts they will acquire one.
The Dallas Cowboys need to discover offensive playmakers in the NFL draft.

And, according to NFL Draft guru Daniel Jeremiah, that is exactly what they will receive, but not at the spot that everyone appears to expect.

According to Jeremiah, the Cowboys will select Texas Longhorns wide receiver Matthew Golden with the No. 12 overall pick, passing up help at running back with Ashton Jeanty already off the board.

“With Ashton Jeanty off the board, I wouldn’t rule out North Carolina RB Omarion Hampton landing here,” Mr. Jeremiah added. “In this case, the Cowboys give CeeDee Lamb a partner who can take the top off the defense and is more than just a speed threat.”

At Texas, Golden began the season as the team’s second-best receiver behind Isaiah Bond, but as the season began, he quickly exceeded his expectations.

By Week 2, against Michigan, Golden had established himself as Quinn Ewers’ favorite receiver target. In fact, on the majority of occasions when Texas was in desperate need of downfield play, Golden provided the answer. Whether it was fourth-and-13 against Arizona State, a clutch catch in College Station versus Texas A&M to seal the win, his monster outing in the SEC Championship, or any number of other exceptional performances in between, Golden demonstrated his clutch gene time and again.

As a result, by the end of the season, he had firmly established himself as a first-round NFL Draft pick.

Obviously, Golden’s 58 catches for 987 yards and nine touchdowns are impressive numbers. What first drew NFL scouts to him were his ball skills, route running, and ability to create plays in crunch time. Then, Golden added a combine-best 4.29 40-yard dash performance, firmly establishing himself as the top prospect at the position.

According to Jeremiah, he might be headed to Dallas as the first receiver off the board, where he would team up with CeeDee Lamb to form a new explosive combination for Dak Prescott.
