The Pittsburgh Steelers appear ready to make a change on their offensive line, particularly at the left tackle position. According to Steelers insider Ray Fittipaldo, the team plans to transition 2023 first-round pick to his natural position at left tackle, with four-year starter likely on his way out.
“Moore has been the starting left tackle for four seasons, but the Steelers want to move Broderick Jones to the left side and insert Troy Fautanu as their right tackle. That makes Moore expendable,” Fittipaldo explained.
Broderick Jones has spent almost his entire NFL career playing right tackle, despite it being an unnatural fit for him. The Steelers initially planned to move him to left tackle this season, but a season-ending injury to Troy Fautanu forced Jones to stay on the right side for the entire year.
Now, the Steelers appear ready to shift Jones back to his natural position at left tackle. However, his performance raises concerns—Jones allowed the second-most sacks among NFL offensive tackles this season, trailing only Dan Moore Jr. Whether Jones can make significant strides in his development will be critical for the Steelers’ offensive line, especially after investing heavily in improving the unit.
