Bills Confirms Huge Announcement on Recent NFL Free Agency Rankings List

One of the most exciting things about following the NFL is catching breaking news, no matter if it’s during the season or in the offseason. Whether it’s a big free agent signing or a blockbuster trade, it instantly gets fans talking. It leads to instant reactions and heated debates, which are always fun to be part of.

Brandon Beane and the Buffalo Bills had a busy opening week of free agency, and there’s still plenty of room for more moves both before and after the NFL Draft. Beane clearly came in with a strategy, focusing heavily on bolstering the defensive line right out of the gate.

The Bills kicked off free agency by signing wide receiver Joshua Palmer, who spent the last four years with the Chargers. He’ll join Buffalo’s “everybody eats” offense, aiming to make things easier for MVP quarterback Josh Allen.

After that, Buffalo shifted much of its attention to the defensive side, adding defensive linemen Michael Hoecht, Joey Bosa, and Larry Ogunjobi. They also signed safety Darrick Forrest and re-signed cornerback Dane Jackson, a 2020 draft pick. On top of that, the Bills were able to retain both Damar Hamlin and running back Ty Johnson.

Buffalo had a strong offseason and Pro Football Focus agrees

With the first wave of free agency wrapped up, Mason Cameron of Pro Football Focus (PFF) released his updated power rankings, placing the Bills at No. 4 overall—trailing only the Ravens, Eagles, and Lions.

“Despite some notable losses, the Bills strengthened key positions in free agency—replacing Mack Hollins with Josh Palmer at wide receiver and cutting Von Miller to make room for Joey Bosa,” Cameron wrote. “While no single move is a blockbuster, Buffalo added a solid group of contributors to bolster the roster.”

That said, Buffalo took a hit when both Michael Hoecht and Larry Ogunjobi were suspended six games for violating the league’s PED policy, thinning their defensive depth for the early part of the season. Still, if the Bills can add reinforcements through the draft or the remaining free agent market, they’ll be in good shape.

After reaching the AFC Championship last season, Buffalo appears to be retooling well. Brandon Beane’s early moves have been strong—despite the suspensions—and fans should expect him to stay active leading up to Week 1.
