The Buffalo Bills shocked the NFL last offseason by trading Top star to the Houston Texans.
The team absorbed more than $31 million in dead money and a $4 million cap hit to move on from Josh Allen’s top target. Along with Diggs, Buffalo sent Houston a 2024 sixth-round pick and a 2025 fifth-rounder, receiving a 2025 second-round pick in return.
There had been longstanding tension between top RB and the Bills prior to the trade. Just one day before the deal, he replied to a fan on social media who suggested Josh Allen didn’t need an elite receiver to succeed, to which he responded, “You sure?” He was traded the next day.
Ultimately, the move worked out for both sides. The Bills secured their fifth straight AFC East title and fell just one game short of the Super Bowl. Meanwhile, he was on track for another 1,000-yard season with the Texans before a season-ending injury after eight games.
Now a free agent after completing a one-year, $22.5 million deal with Houston, Diggs’ next destination is uncertain, but some fans believe a reunion with Buffalo could be in the cards for 2025.
Stefon Diggs Unhid All His Bills Photos on Instagram
Although Stefon Diggs has a pattern of clearing out his Instagram during the offseason, he did the opposite this March, restoring photos of himself in a Bills uniform. The move quickly stirred up a flurry of reactions from fans.
Despite liking a post after his trade that labeled Bills Mafia as “the worst fanbase,” many fans were still open to the idea of Diggs returning. One fan commented, “I’d take Diggs back to be WR1 all day.” Another added, “I’d take Diggs back in an instant if he wanted to return. He did a lot for this team. Sometimes you need time apart to realize how good you had it.”
However, not all fans shared the same enthusiasm. Some were firmly against a reunion. One wrote, “I SERIOUSLY don’t want him back. Beyond how things ended, he’s coming off an ACL tear. After watching Tre and Von recover, we should know he probably won’t be at 100% this season—maybe never again, considering his age.” Another fan simply said, “Hard pass.”
Stefon Diggs Supported Josh Allen’s MVP Campaign
After Diggs’ departure, Josh Allen delivered the best season of his seven-year career, ultimately winning the AP Most Valuable Player Award. Despite their split, Diggs had nothing but positive things to say about his former quarterback during Allen’s MVP campaign.

Appearing on Good Morning Football on December 17, Diggs shared, “Somebody mentioned something to me on Twitter about [Allen winning MVP], and I was like, ‘He definitely should be winning. He’s been balling.’ Obviously, it’s no secret that Josh Allen is amazing.”
He added, “Watching him week in and week out, he’s consistently making those plays. It’s not surprising to me at all… It’s just respect coming full circle. He’s finally getting the recognition he deserves.”
