The Buffalo Bills are facing a gap on their defensive line following Von Miller’s release and a couple of unexpected suspensions, but one insider believes they could solve it with a major trade.
Miller was cut to free up cap space, although the door remains open for him to return on a more team-friendly deal. The situation worsened when two recent additions—former Rams edge rusher Michael Hoecht and ex-Steelers defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi—were each hit with six-game suspensions for violating the NFL’s PED policy.
In response, Jarrett Bailey of The Sporting News suggests the Bills could target an All-Pro defender using a Day 2 draft pick to strengthen the unit.
Bills Land Trey Hendrickson in New Deal
The Bills have already strengthened their pass rush by signing Joey Bosa to a one-year, $12.6 million contract, but Jarrett Bailey believes they could make an even bigger splash by trading for Bengals edge rusher Trey Hendrickson.
Hendrickson has requested a trade, and Bailey suggests Buffalo could land him by offering three draft picks: the No. 56 and No. 175 selections this year, along with a 2026 third-rounder.
Adding Hendrickson would provide crucial depth behind Bosa, who has struggled with injuries in recent seasons. It would also allow the Bills to better manage Bosa’s workload, potentially saving him for the postseason.
“Buffalo extended Greg Rousseau and brought in Bosa, but trading for Hendrickson would give them three dangerous pass rushers,” Bailey wrote. “There’s no guarantee Bosa stays healthy, and using him more strategically, like a baseball closer, could benefit the team. Bring in Hendrickson, extend him, and you’ve got a dominant trio for 2025.”
Meanwhile, Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team reports that Hendrickson’s trade market is cooling, and the Bengals may hesitate to send him to a conference rival like Buffalo.
“The Commanders showed interest but are short on picks after the Tunsil trade,” Meirov said on NFL Spotlight. “The Falcons were also mentioned, but that has quieted down. The list of teams eyeing Hendrickson is shrinking.”
Bills Have Another Option on the Table
The Bills may explore additional options outside of the trade market to strengthen their pass rush. General manager Brandon Beane told reporters this week that the team is still open to bringing back Von Miller, who maintains a positive relationship with the organization.

“We just made a decision based on the salary situation to take a step back,” Beane said on March 14. “But we’ve never closed the door, whether that’s now, later this spring, or even during the season.”
