Injury News: Oli Marmol Drops Big Update On Cardinals’ Outfielder Jordan Walker

St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Jordan Walker has been dealing with inflammation in his left knee. On Friday, Cardinals manager Oli Marmol shared a positive update via Katie Woo of The Athletic.

“Oli Marmol said Jordan Walker (left knee inflammation) has responded ‘really well’ to treatment, and the hope is he’ll be back in spring games,” Woo posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Barring any setbacks, it looks like Walker could return to action soon. While an official date hasn’t been set, Saturday is reportedly a possibility.

Walker, 22, was once considered a top prospect, and the Cardinals still have faith in his potential despite his inconsistent performance in the big leagues. Over 168 MLB games, Walker hasn’t quite lived up to expectations. In 2023, he played in 117 games, posting a .276 average with a .787 OPS—an encouraging start to his major league career. However, his 2024 season was hampered by injuries, limiting him to just 51 games and a .201 average with a .619 OPS.

Overall, Walker’s big league stats include a .255/.317/.423/.740 slash line. While not eye-catching, he has shown glimpses of his potential. Staying healthy could be the key to his breakout season in 2025.

For now, Walker is focused on getting back on the field as soon as possible. If he returns this weekend, he’ll have ample time to gear up for the regular season. The Cardinals are set to face the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday afternoon in Florida, with first pitch scheduled for 1:05 PM EST.
