Breaking: Rafael Devers Sends Mind-blowing Message to Red Sox Amid Position Crisis

The Boston Red Sox are currently facing a positional dilemma involving their two star third basemen, Rafael Devers and newly acquired Alex Bregman. Bregman joined the Red Sox on a three-year, $120 million contract, bringing with him a Gold Glove award from 2024 and a strong defensive reputation.

Rafael Devers told reporters that he is willing to do whatever the Boston Red Sox need him to do, suggesting he is open to moving from third base to designated hitter this season.

Last month, Devers seemed resistant to the idea of switching roles after the Red Sox signed Alex Bregman, stating, “Third base is my position.” However, the three-time All-Star explained that he recently spoke with manager Alex Cora and chief baseball officer Craig Breslow and assured them he is prepared to take on any role the team requires.

“I’m here to help,” Devers said through his interpreter, as reported by The Athletic. “I’ve already discussed this with them, and they know where I stand. I’m just ready to play.” Devers declined to share details of their conversation, emphasizing that it was private and that he had clearly expressed his perspective.

Red Sox Satisfy Fans with Extension for Rafael Devers

Devers has not yet played in an official spring training game for Boston. His debut, originally scheduled for Tuesday, was postponed to this weekend. He spent the early weeks of spring training focusing on strengthening his shoulders after dealing with soreness in both last season.

On Thursday, Devers participated in an intrasquad game in Fort Myers, Florida, where he hit a home run off new Red Sox pitcher Walker Buehler. When asked if he expects to be ready for Opening Day against the Texas Rangers on March 27, Devers confidently replied, “I expect to be there.”
