BREAKING: Done Deal!! NY Rangers Confirm Another Signing of Top Experienced Veteran MVP

The New York Rangers have signed veteran goaltender to another one-year contract, valued at $1.55 million in guaranteed salary, according to two sources familiar with the agreement. One of the sources also revealed that the deal includes up to $300,000 in achievable bonuses. The individuals spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity since financial details were not made public.

He is currently in his second NHL season as Igor Shesterkin’s backup for the Rangers. Last month, he became the first American-born goaltender to reach 400 wins in the league.

More than a decade after leading the Los Angeles Kings to Stanley Cup victories in 2012 and 2014, Quick has proven to be exactly what the Rangers hoped for—both on the ice and in the locker room—since joining the team he supported as a kid in Milford, Connecticut.

Jonathan Quick, who earned the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP in 2012 and added a Stanley Cup ring as the Vegas Golden Knights’ backup during their 2023 championship run, has secured victories in nine of his 17 starts this season. His consistent presence has not only benefited Shesterkin but also the entire team, earning him annual raises from his initial $825,000 signing two years ago to $1.28 million last year, with his latest contract potentially reaching $1.855 million if incentive targets are met.

Originally drafted by the Kings in the third round of the 2005 NHL Draft, Quick ranks fourth in goals-against average, sixth in save percentage, 14th in wins, and 18th in shutouts among NHL goaltenders with 750 or more games played. He has twice been a finalist for the Vezina Trophy and has helped the Kings win the William M. Jennings Trophy twice for allowing the fewest goals in a season.
