BREAKING: ESPN names Alabama football’s next starting quarterback

ESPN has forecasted the starting quarterbacks for each Power Four school in 2025, including Alabama’s Ty Simpson.

Simpson will join the Crimson Tide as a redshirt junior next season. He is presently the most experienced quarterback on the Crimson Tide roster, having served as the team’s primary backup in consecutive seasons.

In 2024, the Tennessee product played six games behind Jalen Milroe. He threw for 167 yards on 14 completions, added 44 rushing yards, and scored once.

Simpson’s most noteworthy snaps at Alabama came against USF in the 2023 season. He took over at quarterback after Tyler Buchner had a rough start, and Simpson led Alabama to a victory over the Bulls, completing five passes for 73 yards and rushing for a touchdown.

The quarterback competition in Tuscaloosa will receive a lot of attention in the coming months.
