JUST IN: Panthers QB Bryce Young Turns Heads With Mind-blowing Comments on Teammate

Bryce Young’s resurgence in the latter half of 2024 transformed him from a potential draft disappointment into the cornerstone of the Carolina Panthers’ future. A key factor in his turnaround was the influence of Adam Thielen.

Over the past two years, Young and Thielen have built a strong connection. Both joined the Panthers in the same offseason, quickly establishing chemistry. In 2023, the veteran wide receiver was the quarterback’s most reliable target, a role he maintained in 2024 despite promising moments from rookies Xavier Legette, Jalen Coker, and tight end Ja’Tavion Sanders.

Initially, Thielen was expected to transition into more of a possession receiver in 2024, especially with the arrival of Legette and Diontae Johnson. However, circumstances forced him back into a primary role, and he delivered in a big way.

The former undrafted standout from Minnesota State considered retiring this offseason, but Young’s rapid development into a poised, productive quarterback provided the motivation for one final season—the last of his contract. Given Young’s glowing praise for Thielen, the veteran’s return should only strengthen the Panthers’ outlook heading into 2025.

Young explained in an interview with New Orleans Saints defensive end Cam Jordan how important Thielen has been during his vital early transition. The former Alabama standout benefited enormously from his expertise and eagerness to help others. It also helps that the two-time Pro Bowler is still one of the greatest separators available.

“Having a guy like Adam, who has had so much success for so long, he was quite communicative. He was really honest about, “Hey, this is how I see things.” How do you see things? Just wanting to get everyone on the same page and having a sense of urgency. That was extremely helpful to me as a young man entering the workforce. I was always interested in hearing his thoughts on various topics because he has watched a lot more NFL football than I have. And of course, his availability translates to the field. He opens up a lot. He makes things much easier for me.”

Young and Thielen share a unique connection built on unwavering trust and a shared competitive drive. Their dedication to putting in the work translates to success on game day. Young has faced his share of challenges, and having a steady presence like Thielen to guide him both on and off the field must have been a tremendous source of support.

If this turns out to be Thielen’s final season at 35, Young will do everything in his power to help him finish on a high note—there’s no doubt about that.

The Panthers need more production from Legette and Coker, and adding another weapon or two wouldn’t hurt. But when a crucial moment arises, expect Young to turn to Thielen to make the play.

And with Thielen’s reliability, he’ll likely deliver.
