Bills’ Sean McDermott Sends Strong Message Regarding Josh Allen-Hailee Steinfeld Italy trip

The Buffalo Bills are gearing up for the 2025 NFL offseason, with free agency kicking off next week, followed by weeks of pre-draft preparation leading up to the 2025 NFL Draft. But before the hard work begins, head coach Sean McDermott took a moment to have some fun.

McDermott got to live out a longtime dream by riding a zamboni at a Buffalo Sabres game. In a video for ESPN, he shared his excitement before climbing into the machine at KeyBank Center.

“I don’t think I’m the only person who has sat at a hockey game, or watched one on TV, and thought to myself, ‘What would it be like to ride that?’” McDermott said in an Instagram video.

After making a lighthearted joke—”Hey, if I don’t make it, tell my wife…”—McDermott took his ride around the ice, clearly enjoying the experience. The footage captured him smiling and waving as he soaked in the moment, proving that even during a busy offseason, there’s always time for some fun.

Bills’ Sean McDermott jokes about Josh Allen-Hailee Steinfeld Italy trip invite

Sean McDermott isn’t the only Buffalo Bills member making the most of the offseason.

In late February, McDermott playfully joked with reporters about being left out of Josh Allen’s trip to Italy with actress Hailee Steinfeld.

“I spend most of my offseason in Buffalo, in the elements, and we look forward to that,” McDermott said. “I love skiing and being around Buffalo. So, no clear invitation came through on my phone. But we’ll see.”

While McDermott had fun with the topic, he also took a moment to emphasize the team’s deep connection to Buffalo. He pointed out that many players and coaches stay in town during the offseason rather than retreating elsewhere.

“Sometimes we get questioned, ‘Hey, where do you go in the offseason?’ Well, we live in Buffalo, we’re members of the community, and we love it there,” McDermott said. “I think that’s a real part of being in Buffalo and being the head coach of the Buffalo Bills.”
