JUST IN: Packers Double Up on Cornerbacks in Seven-Round Mock Draft

GREEN BAY, Wis. – In the 1999 NFL Draft, following the arrival of Randy Moss, then-Green Bay Packers general manager Ron Wolf selected cornerbacks in the first, second, and third rounds.

Heading into the 2025 NFL Draft, the Packers have a clear need at cornerback, as Jaire Alexander and Eric Stokes may have played their final season with the team.

In a seven-round mock draft for Pro Football Network, Dalton Miller didn’t fully follow the “Wolf Plan,” but he did use the first and third rounds to select cornerbacks.

With the first pick, Miller chose a cornerback from East Carolina. Despite Revel’s ACL injury early in the season, Miller described him as potentially the “steal” of the cornerback class. While Revel is expected to be ready ahead of training camp, the injury likely hindered his chances of being a top-10 pick.

Miller compared Revel to former Toledo standout Quinyon Mitchell, who boosted his draft stock as a first-round pick this year. However, Revel won’t have the chance to improve his stock at the Senior Bowl, unlike Mitchell.

In 2023, Shavon Revel Jr. had a standout season, recording one interception, 13 pass breakups, and four forced fumbles. In just three games during the 2024 season, he had interceptions against Old Dominion and Appalachian State.

Dalton Miller praised Revel’s ability to “hinge and carry vertically” like no one else in the class, comparing his playmaking ability to that of Trevon Diggs. Revel has a unique talent for playing out of phase, using it to bait quarterbacks into mistakes. At 6-foot-3, his size and athleticism make him a tantalizing prospect. Pro Football Focus recorded a 43.1 percent completion rate against him in both 2023 and his limited 2024 games.

Revel has expressed admiration for NFL cornerbacks Jaire Alexander and Jalen Ramsey, noting that their aggressive, physical style mirrors his own. He particularly admires Alexander’s footwork at the line of scrimmage and Ramsey’s ability to deliver impactful hits.

In the second round, Miller selected North Carolina running back Omarion Hampton. Hampton had two outstanding seasons, rushing for a combined 3,759 yards and 33 touchdowns in 2023 and 2024. At 6-foot-2 and 220 pounds, Hampton is a powerful player, though selecting him after drafting MarShawn Lloyd the previous year could be seen as redundant.

Miller returned to the cornerback position in the third round, selecting LSU’s Zy Alexander, who could be an ideal replacement if the Packers release Jaire Alexander. At 6-foot-2, Zy Alexander played three seasons at Southeastern Louisiana before transferring to LSU. He had two interceptions and six passes defensed in 2024 and totaled 13 interceptions over his final four seasons. LSU head coach Brian Kelly praised Alexander for his physical development and tackling ability, while Alexander himself cited a torn ACL in 2023 as a motivator to approach every play with more determination.

The Packers’ Day 3 picks were used to address other needs: a receiver in the fourth round, a linebacker in the fifth, a guard in the sixth, and a defensive tackle and safety in the seventh.
