Breaking: Done Deal!! Bills Locks In Another High Profile Star In Major Groundbreaking Deal

Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane is always looking for ways to upgrade the roster, whether through free agency or the draft. If a star player becomes available—aside from a quarterback—Buffalo is often in the mix.

Now, the Bills are once again linked to a high-profile wide receiver from the Pacific Northwest. According to reporter Corbin K. Smith, both Buffalo and Kansas City are “monitoring the top veteran situation” amid speculation about his future in Seattle. While the Seahawks reportedly prefer to keep him and work on an extension, multiple teams are keeping an eye on the situation in case a trade becomes possible.

Given that the Bills and Chiefs are two of the AFC’s top contenders, it’s no surprise they’re exploring potential roster upgrades. If Seattle ever considers trading Metcalf, sending him to an AFC team like Buffalo or Kansas City could make the most sense.

DK Metcalf is a great player, but not a huge need for Bills

For a player who has never had fewer than 900 receiving yards in a season, it’s hard to argue that the Bills wouldn’t benefit from DK Metcalf. However, the reality is they don’t necessarily need him. Last season proved that Buffalo can succeed without a true No. 1 receiver. While they traded for Amari Cooper midseason, he wasn’t a dominant, go-to target.

The Bills actually had two chances to draft Metcalf in 2019 but opted for defensive tackle Ed Oliver and offensive tackle Cody Ford instead. In hindsight, they may have regretted passing on Metcalf—especially since Ford is no longer with the team.

At this point, the report linking Buffalo to Metcalf is just speculation, but it’s worth monitoring. A minor rumor can quickly develop into something much bigger. The fact that the Bills are even keeping tabs on the situation shows that Brandon Beane is exploring all possible ways to improve the roster.

While Metcalf would undoubtedly be a major addition, Buffalo’s bigger priority should be strengthening the defense—particularly the defensive line.
