German media claim Newcastle are interested in signing Werder Bremen star in January

Another striker has been linked with a January move to Newcastle United, with Werden Bremen’s Marvin Ducksch being mentioned in the German press.

Following ties to Stuttgart’s Serhou Guirassy, PSG’s Hugo Ekitike, Brazilian wonder Marcos Leonardo, and Bayer Leverkusen’s Victor Boniface, SportBILD journalist Christian Falk thinks we’ve entered the competition for the free-scoring forward.

The 6ft 2′ attacker has six goals and four assists in 12 appearances for the Bundesliga side this season, following up on his 12 goals and eight assists in 2022/23.

His outstanding play over the last 18 months earned him his first call-up to the German national team this month, where he came off the bench in friendly defeats to Turkey and Austria.

Ducksch, 29, may be in form and reasonably priced, but I’d be shocked if the next striker we recruit is in their 30s. Many believe that with Callum Wilson turning 32 next year, we’ll look for a younger forward who can learn from him and Isak.

Here are a couple clips of the former Borussia Dortmund prodigy in action, just in case this latest transfer rumour is true:
