BREAKING: Sabres Confirm Major Trade For Three Key Stars

The Vancouver Canucks have reportedly made a strong offer to Brock Boeser, proposing a five-year, $40 million deal. However, it hasn’t been enough to finalize an agreement, with the NHL trade deadline just a week away.

In the Eastern Conference, the Buffalo Sabres have fallen short of expectations. With a 24-28-5 record, they rank 29th in the league and are once again out of playoff contention.

Despite having a solid mix of young talent and veteran leadership, Buffalo has struggled to find success. Any potential trade would likely involve acquiring experienced players who can contribute immediately and in the future.

NHL insider Frank Seravalli reported that Sabres winger, a 23-year-old enjoying a breakout season after recording 50 points last year, is generating significant trade interest. While Buffalo isn’t eager to part with him, the pending restricted free agent is expected to command a major salary increase this summer.

Boeser, who netted 40 goals last season, is also in line for a lucrative payday. Both he and Peterka have bright financial futures, but their tenures with their current teams may be nearing an end.

For the Sabres, veteran winger Alex Tuch could be on the move at the trade deadline, leaving Buffalo in need of replacing his experience. While the team also requires upgrades on defense and in goal, their primary focus in this potential deal is finding a replacement for Peterka.

According to Seravalli, another player attracting interest across the NHL is Bowen Byram. If the Sabres were to acquire both Boeser and Carson Soucy, they could remain competitive while retooling, adding veteran experience, and maintaining flexibility for further moves in the summer.

For the Canucks, this deal would help clear cap space to sign Peterka to an extension while also making them younger and faster at forward—a key issue for them this season. Additionally, moving Soucy would create opportunities for young defensemen like Victor Mancini and Elias Pettersson to take on larger roles.

In Seravalli’s latest trade board rankings, Byram is listed seventh, Soucy eighth, Boeser 12th, Peterka 15th, and Tuch 24th.
