Breaking News: Commanders Confirms Major Trade For Top Pro Bowl Star

The Washington Commanders have reportedly allowed two-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle to explore trade options. A Northern Virginia native and the team’s 2017 first-round pick, Allen has recorded 42 sacks while starting 108 games for Washington.

If moved or released before June 1, the Commanders would free up over $16 million in cap space. The 30-year-old is entering the final year of his contract, which carries a $15.5 million base salary but no guaranteed money.

The former Alabama standout missed nine games last season due to a torn pectoral muscle. Although there were concerns he might be out for the remainder of the year, Allen returned in time for Washington’s playoff push.

The Commanders have consistently prioritized their defensive line, including the selection of Jer’Zhan Newton in the second round of the 2024 draft. Newton tallied 19 tackles and two sacks in his rookie season. If Allen departs, head coach Dan Quinn will likely lean on Newton and 2018 first-round pick Daron Payne to anchor the defensive front.
