Just when it seemed Bryce Young’s year could get better, he’s now learning that girlfriend has moved on to the NBA.
The Carolina Panthers quarterback is already faced the challenge of watching from the sidelines after being benched following rough outings.
Head coach Dave Canales had explained that the decision to bench Young came after reviewing his Week Two performance.
“This was something that, after watching the film, I thought about and then discussed with the decision-makers,” Canales told reporters. “Ultimately, this falls on me, and my top priority is helping the Panthers win. I believe this move gives us the best chance to do that this week.”
Adding to Young’s struggles, his ex-girlfriend, Myra Gordon, appears to be dating Philadelphia 76ers star Tyrese Maxey.
The two were spotted together at Lincoln Financial Field on Monday night during the Falcons-Eagles game.
Social media users quickly reacted, pointing out her history of dating athletes.
“Her roster is crazyyy—Shedeur Sanders, Bryce Young, now Tyrese Maxey,” one commenter noted.
But Gordon is more than just Young’s ex. She played college basketball at Alabama before transferring to Pepperdine.
During the 2023-24 season, she averaged 7.9 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game, according to ESPN. Unfortunately, Pepperdine had a tough season, finishing 5-25 and placing ninth in the WCC standings.
The Carolina Panthers raised eyebrows throughout the NFL when they announced that they benched 2023 first-round selection Bryce Young in favor of veteran Andy Dalton.
The former Alabama standout appeared to have the potential to be a high-quality starter, but he has only thrown 11 touchdowns in 18 games.
Two games into his second season, nothing has improved. He did not toss a touchdown and made three interceptions.
Given the enormous trade the Panthers made to move up to No. 1 to obtain Young, this could be one of the worst mistakes in team history.
