Over the past five seasons, the Buffalo Bills have consistently reached at least the Divisional Round of the NFL playoffs, winning the AFC East each year. This past season, quarterback Josh Allen secured the NFL MVP award and led the team to the AFC Championship. With Allen still just 28 years old and many key players under contract, the Bills appear well-positioned for continued playoff success.
However, one former Bills player-turned-analyst sees things differently. Bucky Brooks, a second-round pick by Buffalo in 1994, left his former team off his list of the “eight biggest Super Bowl windows right now.” Instead, he ranked the reigning Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles at No. 1, followed by the Detroit Lions and Kansas City Chiefs. Rounding out the top five were the Baltimore Ravens and Green Bay Packers, with the Los Angeles Chargers, Washington Commanders, and Houston Texans completing the list.

“Although the start of the league year is still weeks away, it’s never too early to evaluate which teams are in the best position to contend. With free agency and the 2025 NFL Draft providing opportunities for roster upgrades, here are the eight teams with the biggest Super Bowl windows right now,” Brooks wrote.
Despite six consecutive seasons with double-digit wins, Buffalo was notably absent from his rankings. This omission comes even after the Bills reached the AFC Championship and retained their quarterback, head coach, offensive and defensive coordinators, and an offensive line that helped them finish with the AFC’s second-best record.
Brooks, who played for five different teams primarily as a special teams contributor, recorded just 15 tackles and one fumble recovery over four NFL seasons. His career included stints with the Bills, Packers, Jaguars, Chiefs, and Raiders. After retiring, he worked as a scout for the Seattle Seahawks and Carolina Panthers before transitioning into sports media.
The Bills now have extra motivation to prove Brooks wrong as they aim to maintain their dominance in the AFC East. Early betting odds already place them among the top Super Bowl contenders for next season.
