Philadelphia Eagles linebacker is poised to be the top free-agent linebacker this offseason. With free agency just weeks away, the Eagles must determine whether retaining him is the best move or if they should let him walk and potentially receive a compensatory pick.
The key question is: what will he command on the open market after his All-Pro season in Philadelphia? Spotrac projects his market value at approximately $9.7 million per year.
That figure seems reasonable, but he could land an even bigger contract. A comparable situation is Patrick Queen, who secured a deal exceeding $13 million annually after an All-Pro season with the Baltimore Ravens. Baun could easily reach that price range as well.
While Baun will have strong interest from other teams, his fit within Vic Fangio’s defensive scheme is somewhat specialized. That said, staying in Philadelphia could be appealing if he wants to maintain his high level of play.
Regardless, Baun has transformed his career from a rotational edge rusher to a premier off-ball linebacker and is now in line for a lucrative payday in free agency.
