GROUNDBREAKING NEWS: Georgia Football Top MVP Confirms Return

Georgia defensive back exemplifies everything Kirby Smart values in his program: a skilled athlete with a relentless drive for improvement, a determined yet adaptable player eager to learn, and a competitor who balances intensity with discipline. These traits are essential for success and intelligence on the field at Georgia.

In a significant boost for the Bulldogs, Everette, the MVP of the 2024 SEC Championship Game, announced his decision to return to Georgia for the 2025 season.

Daylen Everette is back

Daylen Everette is coming off a standout 2024 season, achieving career highs with 58 tackles, three interceptions, and two forced fumbles. However, his most memorable performance came during the SEC Championship Game against Texas, where he intercepted Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers twice en route to earning MVP honors.

Everette’s decision to return for the 2025 season is significant, particularly because Georgia’s defensive back group is young and lacks experience, especially at cornerback. With the departure of starter Julian Humphrey to Texas A&M in December, Everette will be the only cornerback with substantial playing time under his belt.

His veteran presence will be crucial for Georgia’s defense, not only for his on-field contributions but also as a mentor to newly-appointed starter Daniel Harris and rising sophomore Ellis Robinson IV. Everette’s leadership and experience will play a vital role in the secondary’s performance and development in 2025.
