Georgia football, under head coach Kirby Smart, is heavily involved in recruiting top talent for the 2026 class. While Georgia consistently pursues elite prospects each cycle, this year appears to be especially competitive.
One of the Bulldogs’ biggest targets is five-star tight end Kaiden Prothro. According to the 247Sports composite rankings, Prothro is the No. 21 overall player in the country, the second-ranked tight end in the 2026 class, and the No. 2 prospect from Georgia.
Prothro recently named his top five schools, with Georgia making the cut alongside Florida, Alabama, Auburn, and Texas. He also confirmed plans to take official visits to all five programs, starting with Georgia on May 30.
With stiff competition in this recruitment, Georgia may benefit from Prothro being an in-state prospect. Additionally, Smart’s recruiting pitch could play a crucial role in swaying him toward Athens.
Prothro has drawn comparisons to former Georgia star Brock Bowers, one of the best tight ends in college football history. Bowers, who recently completed his rookie NFL season and finished second in Offensive Rookie of the Year voting, set a high standard at the position.
Being likened to a player of Bowers’ caliber could work in Georgia’s favor, but only time will tell if it will be enough to secure Prothro’s commitment. For now, UGA fans have reason to be optimistic.
