The player practiced with the Bruins in a non-contact sweater on Wednesday for the first time since suffering a lower-body injury against the St. Louis Blues on November 12.
The Bruins defenseman, who was placed on long-term injured reserve this week, is not available for this weekend’s game against the Ottawa Senators, and there is no timeframe for when he will return, but returning to practice is a positive step in his recovery.
“It’s always nice to be out there with the guys,” Lindholm told the media. “Getting some laughter in and shooting on some goalies is always nice for a change.”
Lindholm revealed he broke a bone when blocking a shot. He attempted to skate it off, but it didn’t feel right.
“I gotta drink some more milk,” Lindholm quipped.
“You want to be out there, aiding the guys. It’s extremely difficult, winning or losing,” he remarked. “We’re all a team in here, especially when you feel like the boys could use a little additional help. It’s terrible when you can’t be out there.”
The Bruins’ six-game losing streak ended last weekend with an overtime victory over the Florida Panthers. Lindholm found it difficult to sit back and observe, but he made the most of his time away from the rink.
“I think any pro athlete will say being on the sidelines is not something you want, but it’s part of the sport,” she remarked. “I just try to do everything I can to maximize when I do get back, hopefully learn something and I can be a better version of myself when I do get back on the ice playing.”
