The Buffalo Sabres are still receiving trade inquiries for, but any team looking to acquire him will face a steep asking price. According to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, who spoke on Sirius XM NHL Network, Sabres GM Kevyn Adams isn’t interested in parting with Cozens for just draft picks or prospects.
“From Buffalo’s perspective, they don’t just want to give (Cozens) away for futures (draft picks and prospects),” Pagnotta explained. “If they’re going to do something, it’s going to be a hockey-type trade, talent for talent. That’s where things kind of get a little difficult to manage and agree on.”
This approach suggests that Buffalo values Cozens as a core piece and would only consider moving him in a deal that brings back immediate impact talent.
David Pagnotta has identified the Chicago Blackhawks, Calgary Flames, Montreal Canadiens, and Detroit Red Wings as potential suitors for Dylan Cozens. However, he noted that “there doesn’t seem to be a pathway to a potential deal between Calgary and Buffalo,” suggesting that talks with the Flames may have stalled or hit a dead end.
NHL insider Kevin Weekes also reported that Toronto, Montreal, Detroit, and Calgary are among the teams monitoring Co
According to Pierre LeBrun, while Sabres GM Kevyn Adams is open to trade discussions, he is not actively shopping Dylan Cozens. “He’s taking calls because Buffalo is in last place and he has to take calls,” LeBrun said. “But if he moves Dylan Cozens, who is signed to a long-term deal, it’s going to have to be apples for apples, not just a futures deal.”
Cozens, 23, is in the second year of a seven-year, $49.7 million contract and has recorded 10 goals and 16 assists in 53 games this season. Despite the Sabres’ struggles, Adams values Cozens highly, and any potential deal would require an equal return in terms of talent, not just draft picks or prospects.
“Buffalo is willing to listen,” added David Pagnotta. “They understand that they’ve got to kind of shake up things over there to get this team back into playoff contention. And Cozens is a guy that they’re listening on.” This suggests that while Cozens isn’t untouchable, prying him away from Buffalo would require a significant offer.

zens’ situation. This aligns with TSN’s Pierre LeBrun’s earlier report, which stated that “two-thirds of the league” have inquired about Cozens’ availability. Despite the widespread interest, the Sabres’ high asking price and preference for a talent-for-talent deal make any trade complex to finalize.
