Early Thursday morning, LSU freshman quarterback Colin Hurley was wounded in an on-campus accident. WBRZ reported that Hurley’s Dodge Charger collided with a tree at South Quad Drive and Highland Road, near LSU’s south gates.
Officials reported that Hurley was unresponsive but breathing when rescuers dragged him out of his vehicle, where he was in and out of consciousness and had a huge cut on his face. The reason of the crash has not been determined, although investigators have claimed that impairment is not suspected.
Hurley is 17 years old and recently completed his first season at LSU as a reserve quarterback behind Garrett Nussmeier, Rickie Collins, and AJ Swann. Hurley is likely to fight with incoming transfer Michael Van Buren for the post of Nussmeier’s backup in 2025.
Hopefully, Hurley recovers fully from his injuries and all parties involved are safe.
