Broncos quarterback is expected to move on from the team this offseason. Multiple reports indicate that both Wilson and Jarrett Stidham, who are set to become free agents, are unlikely to return since Denver appears to have found its long-term answer at quarterback. After an impressive 2024 season, Bo Nix has solidified himself as the team’s main option, though the Broncos will still need to find a backup. Stidham has a better chance of staying, given his experience in a reserve role, while Wilson, at just 25 years old, may have one final opportunity to compete for a starting job elsewhere.
A former first-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft out of BYU, Wilson arrived in Denver via trade after three seasons with the New York Jets. However, he struggled to adapt to the NFL, leading New York to move on from him. Wilson never had a real chance to prove himself with the Broncos, but he still has potential and could be a developmental option for another team. His next contract remains uncertain, though he may have to settle for a one-year deal.
While no team is expected to bring him in as a starter, he could land a backup role with an organization willing to see if he can develop. Learning from Nix this season may have helped Wilson gain valuable perspective, which could benefit him in his next opportunity.

Helping Bryce Young
The Carolina Panthers entered the 2024 season uncertain about their long-term answer at quarterback. After briefly benching Bryce Young, the team now views him as their franchise QB, as he has shown significant promise despite the Panthers’ five-win season. However, while Young’s job is secure for now, head coach Dave Canales has proven he’s willing to make a change if necessary. Bringing in a quarterback like Zach Wilson could provide valuable competition and help keep the team competitive.
With veteran Andy Dalton set to hit free agency, Carolina will need a new backup regardless. Wilson could use this opportunity to revive his career, serving as a reliable No. 2 option while potentially competing for the starting job if Young struggles.
