The UW Huskies wasted no time in naming their next offensive coordinator.
On the same morning that reports surfaced about offensive coordinator and offensive line coach Brennan Carroll leaving Washington to join his father Pete Carroll on the Las Vegas Raiders’ coaching staff, the Huskies announced replacements for both positions in a press conference.
According to UW insider Christian Caple of On Montlake, head coach Jedd Fisch confirmed that Jimmie Dougherty has been promoted to offensive coordinator after serving as Washington’s passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach in 2024. Additionally, Michael Switzer has been elevated to offensive line coach after previously working as the Huskies’ assistant O-line coach.
Dougherty, 46, is in his second stint with Washington. He was previously the Huskies’ passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach from 2009-2012 under Steve Sarkisian. He followed Fisch to UW last year after serving as Arizona’s passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach from 2021-2023. Dougherty also spent time as UCLA’s wide receivers coach (2017-2020) and held assistant roles at Michigan (2016), San Jose State (2013-2015), San Diego (2004-2008), and Illinois Wesleyan (2002-2003). As a player, he was a quarterback at Missouri from 1997 to 2001.
Switzer also made the move to Washington with Fisch in 2024 after working as a senior offensive analyst at Arizona. His coaching background includes roles at Eastern Michigan, Michigan, and Indiana State, where he was both offensive coordinator and offensive line coach. As a player, Switzer was a four-year starting offensive lineman at Ball State and had a brief stint with the Buffalo Bills in 2011.
