Auburn Tigers star forward Johni Broome has officially declared for the 2025 NBA Draft, closing the chapter on a standout college career that culminated in a historic NCAA Tournament run.
Broome played a pivotal role in leading the Tigers to the Final Four, where they ultimately fell to the eventual national champion Florida Gators. His dominance on both ends of the floor helped solidify Auburn as one of the nation’s elite programs throughout the season.
Before their semifinal exit, the Tigers stormed through the tournament field with impressive victories over Alabama State, Creighton, Michigan, and Michigan State—cementing their place among college basketball’s most dangerous squads.
With Broome now turning his attention to the professional ranks, Auburn looks ahead to the future, while celebrating one of the most successful seasons in program history.
While they were unsuccessful in hoisting the national title trophy, the Auburn Tigers certainly had a season to remember.
Led by veteran forward Johni Broome, Auburn reached the Final Four for just the second time in program history, ultimately falling to the eventual national champion Florida Gators. Prior to that, the Tigers strung together an impressive tournament run with victories over Alabama State, Creighton, Michigan, and Michigan State.
Following the conclusion of the season, Broome officially announced his intention to declare for the 2025 NBA Draft—closing the book on a college career that left a lasting impact on The Plains.
Tigers freshman standout Tahaad Pettiford, who played a key role during Auburn’s tournament surge, shared his reaction to Broome’s decision with a simple but telling message:
“BIG DIB,” Pettiford posted—a brief salute packed with meaning, signifying respect and celebration for Broome’s next chapter.
As Broome prepares for the professional ranks, Auburn turns toward the future with young stars like Pettiford ready to carry the torch.
Pettiford later returned to the comment section, expressing some doubt about Broome’s decision to leave, after the Auburn star captioned his announcement with “4 out.”
“Is 4 really out?” Pettiford questioned.
In his final season with the Auburn Tigers, Broome led the SEC powerhouse by averaging 18.6 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks per game.

Pettiford also recently announced his decision to enter the 2025 NBA Draft following his freshman campaign at Auburn. He posted averages of 11.6 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game this past season.
With both Broome and Pettiford moving on, Auburn is now parting ways with arguably the two most pivotal contributors to its historic run.
