Kirby Smart Lands The Most stunning Recruit Of The Season Hiring a Renowned Sec Coach

Head coach Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs are reportedly luring a defensive assistant away from Lincoln Riley’s staff at USC. After a SEC championship and College Football Playoff appearance, Georgia’s staff remains mostly intact. Defensively, co-coordinators Glenn Schumann and Travaris Robinson will return, with additional help in the linebacker room from highly experienced coach. The Ellenwood, Georgia native joined USC as a defensive quality control coach in 2023 and helped coach linebackers during the Trojans’ 7-6 season in 2024. He is expected to join the Bulldogs as an assistant linebackers coach, according to a report from Matt Zenitz of 247 Sports.

Top coach is a well-known name for Georgia fans and Smart’s staff, having played linebacker at rival South Carolina from 2014-2018. During that time, Georgia defensive analyst Will Muschamp served as head coach of the Gamecocks. Additionally, Georgia defensive backs coach Tre Williams worked alongside Allen-Williams at USC in 2023. After signing with the Las Vegas Raiders as an undrafted free agent in 2018, Allen-Williams was waived and decided to enter coaching as a graduate assistant at North Carolina. He then spent two seasons at Georgia State coaching linebackers before joining Riley’s staff at USC.

There’s no shortage of young talent at linebacker for Allen-Williams to develop, as Georgia has excelled in recruiting the position under Smart. In the 2025 cycle, UGA signed five-star Zayden Walker, following the addition of five-star linebackers Justin Williams and Chris Cole in the 2024 class. The Bulldogs will kick off the 2025 season at home against Marshall on August 30.
