Missouri has brought the former Miami linebackers coach and co-defensive coordinator, as its linebackers coach for the 2025 season.
The program’s social media confirmed the 38-year-old’s hiring, sharing a five-word announcement: “Welcome to Columbia Coach!”
Coach Eli Drinkwitz expressed enthusiasm about his hiring, stating:
“He brings a wealth of experience as a coach, coordinator, and former NFL player. What impressed us most was his energy, passion for the game, and proven ability to develop top-tier talent. We believe he’s an ideal fit to mentor our defense as we take the next steps forward as a program.”
Nicholson spent the last two seasons at Miami, serving as the Hurricanes’ linebackers coach in 2023 before being promoted to co-defensive coordinator in 2024. Under his leadership, Miami’s defense made significant strides. The Hurricanes allowed 375 yards per game in 2022, ranking 65th nationally, but by 2024, they improved to just 327.2 yards per game, placing 27th in the country.

Nicholson now transitions from the ACC to the SEC, taking on a new challenge with Missouri as the Tigers aim to build on their impressive 10-3 season in 2024.
