Huge Recruit: Lsu Lands Two Key-stars From Transfer Portal With a Huge Commitment For an Elite Star

LSU is making serious waves in the transfer portal, and the message is loud and clear: they’re ready to rebuild fast. After a tough 3-15 run in SEC play last season, the Tigers have wasted no time revamping their roster.

They landed two major additions—former Miami center Michael Nwoko, who brings SEC experience, and one of the top guards in the portal,  out of UNLV. A crafty playmaker with high-level vision, immediately elevates LSU’s backcourt.

But adding a player of his caliber means LSU must keep pushing to surround him with capable scorers. His passing and court awareness can transform an offense, but only if there are finishers around him. The pieces are coming together, and if they keep stacking talent, LSU could make a serious leap next season.

While much of the spotlight was on other high-profile visitors making their way to Baton Rouge, LSU quietly made another key addition to its roster. The Tigers landed a commitment from Northeastern transfer Rashad King, continuing their aggressive and efficient work in the transfer portal.

King, a versatile wing with good size and two-way potential, brings depth and experience to an LSU team that’s clearly looking to turn the page quickly. While he may not have had the national buzz of Dedan Thomas Jr., King adds valuable length, athleticism, and defensive upside—exactly the kind of complementary piece LSU needs as it builds around its new core. Another smart pickup for Matt McMahon and his staff as the rebuild takes shape.

Rashad King’s addition is exactly the type of under-the-radar move that could pay huge dividends for LSU. Despite coming from a mid-major program in Northeastern, King brings a polished offensive game and a physical frame that should translate well to the SEC.

Averaging 18.5 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 3.3 assists while shooting 44.9% from the field in back-to-back seasons shows a level of consistency that’s hard to ignore. At 6’6″, his size on the wing adds a much-needed dimension for LSU, especially after a season where athleticism and depth were glaring issues.

While his 31.9% shooting from beyond the arc won’t turn heads, it’s enough to keep defenses honest—and when paired with his ability to drive and distribute, he should thrive in an offense led by Dedan Thomas Jr. King’s experience as a primary option at Northeastern could give LSU a much-needed veteran presence, especially in late-game situations.

All in all, McMahon and his staff are building a roster with a nice mix of playmaking, size, and versatility—and King checks all those boxes.
