BREAKING: Phillies Insider confirms deal for former MVP after major development

With Los Angeles Angels superstar Mike Trout shifting to a new position, the Philadelphia Phillies  emerged as potential suitors for a trade in 2025.

Throughout the offseason, the Phillies explored trade options for right fielder Nick Castellanos and left fielder Brandon Marsh. While both remain on the roster, acquiring Trout could provide a significant upgrade to their outfield.

Phillies Insider Brad Wakai of Sports Illustrated highlighted how Trout’s transition from center to right field could create an opportunity for Philadelphia to make a move:

“And based on the latest news surrounding Mike Trout, his name is going to be back in the headlines when it comes to the possibility of him coming to Philadelphia,” Wakai wrote. “‘He will play right field moving forward in an effort to preserve his body,’ reported Alden Gonzalez of ESPN.”

Trout’s Position Change Fits the Phillies’ Needs

If the Phillies pursue Trout, he could replace Castellanos in right field, adding a major boost to their lineup. Though injuries have limited the three-time AL MVP to just 111 games over the past two seasons, he remains one of baseball’s premier talents when healthy.

A New Jersey native, Trout has limited experience in right field, having played just 17 games there early in his career. However, his near-flawless defensive record—boasting an unblemished fielding percentage over the past two seasons and a career .994 rate—suggests he can handle the position. Additionally, his ability to hit 30+ home runs, score 100 runs, drive in 100 RBIs, and contribute as a base-stealing threat makes him a highly valuable asset.

For the Phillies, Trout could be the final piece needed to push them over the top in the National League and capture a World Series title.
