Breaking News: Red Sox Star Abruptly Leaves Team Lands $10 million Contract

Veteran closer is headed to the AL West, signing a one-year, $10 million contract with the Los Angeles Angels, according to Jon Heyman of the New York Post.

Top star 37, spent the past two seasons with the Boston Red Sox, earning his fourth All-Star selection in 2023. During his time in Boston, he notched 56 saves with a 3.44 ERA. While his stint was largely successful, it ended on a sour note as Jansen expressed frustration over missing the playoffs in consecutive seasons. His decision to clear out his locker and leave before the season concluded—while on the Injured List—also caused tension within the clubhouse.

Recognized as one of the most accomplished relievers in MLB history, Jansen rose to prominence during his 12-year tenure with the Los Angeles Dodgers, establishing himself as a dominant closer. Prior to joining the Red Sox, he spent the 2022 season with the Atlanta Braves.

Across 15 MLB seasons, Jansen has amassed 447 career saves, ranking fourth on the all-time list.
