Top veterans trade speculation is heating up, and Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni isn’t exactly putting out the fire.
When asked about top star Goedert at the NFL’s annual meeting, Sirianni kept things vague: “Right now, he’s on our football team,” he told ESPN. “top star has meant a lot to us. He’s a heck of a football player, a heck of a leader… We want to have as many guys back as possible, but that’s not the reality of the NFL. We’ll see how it plays out.” His non-committal tone only added fuel to the growing rumors.
He is entering the final year of his four-year, $57 million contract, and with a $12 million cap hit looming in 2025, the Eagles may be looking to move on. Shedding that salary could give Philadelphia added flexibility as they look to reshape their roster.
CBS Sports’ Cody Benjamin recently explored possible trade destinations for the veteran tight end, and one intriguing option he floated was the Chicago Bears. With Chicago on the rise and possibly in the market for more offensive weapons, a deal for Goedert could make sense for both sides.
TE Dallas Goedert Floated as Trade Option for Chicago Bears
New Bears offensive coordinator Ben Johnson has a clear vision for his scheme, and it involves plenty of two-tight end sets. His success in Detroit with 12-personnel packages — using tight ends effectively in both the passing and ground game — makes the idea of adding a player like Dallas Goedert all the more intriguing for Chicago.
The Bears already have a solid duo in Cole Kmet and recent free-agent signing Durham Smythe, but inserting Goedert into the mix would immediately upgrade the group. While Kmet continues to develop and Smythe adds veteran stability, Goedert’s blend of experience, blocking ability, and receiving talent would provide a significant boost. Chicago is expected to draft a young tight end in April, but if Goedert is available at a manageable price, he’s absolutely a name to watch.

That brings us to the trade value question. According to NFL insider Josina Anderson, the Eagles are hoping for at least a future fourth-round pick for Goedert — even if that pick comes in 2026 or 2027. However, multiple teams reportedly view that as steep, especially considering Goedert’s age and the relatively low premium placed on the tight end position. A more realistic offer might be a future fifth or sixth-rounder, especially if the Eagles are willing to absorb some of his remaining salary.
For the Bears, that could be a worthwhile gamble. Assistant GM Ian Cunningham, who spent time in Philadelphia, knows Goedert well. But unless Philly lowers the asking price and kicks in some cap help, Chicago may pass — leaving the door open for another team to make a move. Either way, Goedert’s name will be one to monitor closely as the draft approaches.
