Upgrading quarterback Justin Herbert’s supporting cast will be a key focus for the Los Angeles Chargers this offseason. In his first year with the team, general manager Joe Hortiz prioritized strengthening the trenches, but now the focus shifts to adding more playmakers.
One of the biggest names available is Seattle Seahawks wide receiver. Initially placed on the trade block with a high asking price, the Seahawks have since lowered their demands. With that adjustment, the Chargers are expected to be among the teams interested in pursuing a deal for the star wideout.
The Seahawks have lowered their asking price for DK Metcalf
According to Dianna Russini, the Seahawks have lowered their asking price for DK Metcalf, making him a prime trade target for the Chargers.
“Seattle would be open to a return centered around a second-round pick for the two-time Pro Bowl receiver,” Russini reported. “Metcalf ideally wants to play in a warm weather climate and is looking to make $30 million per year.”
The Chargers are well-positioned to meet Metcalf’s preferences, offering both the sunny Los Angeles weather and the financial flexibility to meet his contract demands. With $90 million in cap space heading into the offseason, LA has the resources to make a competitive offer.
The Chargers have expressed their interest in Metcalf before
If the Chargers reach out to the Seahawks about a potential trade for DK Metcalf, it wouldn’t be their first attempt. According to Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports, Los Angeles previously inquired about the star receiver but was turned away by Seattle.
“Sources: DK Metcalf is expected to draw interest from multiple teams, but dating back to last offseason, the #Chargers were the one team that quietly but aggressively pursued him in trade talks—only to be rebuffed by Seattle. The Chargers remain in the receiver market this offseason,” Schultz reported on X.
With Seattle now more open to moving Metcalf, the Chargers could reignite their pursuit as they look to upgrade Justin Herbert’s receiving corps.
It’s clear why the Chargers are interested in adding DK Metcalf to their roster. The 6-foot-4 receiver has consistently produced at a high level, surpassing 900 receiving yards in each of his six NFL seasons. In 2024, he recorded 66 receptions for 992 yards and five touchdowns.
Metcalf has established himself as one of the league’s premier deep threats, making him an ideal fit for Justin Herbert’s strong arm. Pairing the two could unlock even more explosive plays in the Chargers’ passing attack.
