A key figure in the St. Louis Cardinals’ lineup, was one of the most sought-after players during the offseason, with rumors swirling about a potential trade. However, due to his substantial contract and full no-trade clause, Arenado wasn’t moved. While St. Louis faced challenges in dealing him, Arenado remains a valuable trade asset. Bleacher Report’s Kerry Miller recently named him one of the top trade chips for the season, noting his significant presence in trade discussions this offseason.
Miller highlighted his impressive accolades—10-time Gold Glove, eight-time All-Star, six-time Platinum Glove, and five-time Silver Slugger—as well as his current contract, which includes $21 million for 2025, $16 million in 2026, and $15 million in 2027. Despite turning 34 this month, Arenado has started the season strong with a six-game hitting streak and a 1.109 OPS. While no one expects him to maintain such numbers, if he bounces back from a near career-worst 2024 campaign, his trade value could rise.

Teams like the New York Yankees or Detroit Tigers are potential suitors, though Arenado hasn’t cleared his no-trade clause for those clubs. However, he has reportedly opened up the possibility of a trade to the Los Angeles Angels or Los Angeles Dodgers, making those teams potential landing spots if the Cardinals are willing to absorb more of his remaining salary.
