BREAKING: Bears Officially Confirm Another Blockbuster Signing of a Top Experienced $51 million Star

The Chicago Bears are acquiring Pro Bowl guard from the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for a 2025 sixth-round pick, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The report credits ESPN’s Bears beat writer Courtney Cronin for breaking the news.

He turned 28 in February, signed a three-year, $51 million deal with the Rams in March 2024. However, a fractured scapula in Week 2 sidelined him for most of the season, allowing rookie Beaux Limmer to step in at center while Steve Avila moved back to guard.

When Jonah Jackson returned in November, the Rams initially slotted him in at center, a position where he had only played 24 career snaps before 2024. After one game, he was benched in favor of Limmer but later started one game at right guard, where he earned an impressive 91.8 PFF grade over 66 snaps.

Before joining the Rams, Jackson spent four seasons with the Detroit Lions as their starting left guard. He earned Pro Bowl honors in 2021, just his second year in the league.

This trade reunites Jackson with Bears head coach Ben Johnson, who previously served as his offensive coordinator in Detroit in 2022 and 2023. It also gives Jackson a chance to bounce back after a tough year in a familiar offensive system.

According to Tankathon, the draft pick heading to the Rams is projected to be No. 197 overall. The Bears originally acquired this selection from the Steelers in the 2024 offseason when they traded quarterback Justin Fields to Pittsburgh.

Jackson’s arrival brings much-needed experience to a Bears offensive line expected to undergo significant changes. If he takes over as the starting left guard, Chicago will likely use free agency and the draft to address their needs at center and right guard for the 2025 season.
