Bombshell!!! Vikings Fan-favorite Finds New Home With NFL Rival

The Minnesota Vikings are still searching for a veteran quarterback to pair with J.J. McCarthy. After briefly considering Aaron Rodgers, the team has decided to move forward with McCarthy as their future quarterback. Finding a player who can both challenge a young QB and serve as a mentor while still playing at a high level is a tricky balance in a highly competitive league. One notable name left in free agency was former Vikings hero, known for his unforgettable role in the “Minneapolis Miracle” that led the team to its last NFC Championship Game. However, this week, he found a new home with an NFC North rival. On April 4, the Chicago Bears announced they had signed him to a one-year deal, hoping he will be the perfect mentor for Caleb Williams, while the Vikings continue their search.

In 2017, he, initially a backup, was thrust into the starting role after injuries to both Teddy Bridgewater and Sam Bradford. Despite the setbacks, he led the Vikings to an 11-3 record as a starter, throwing for 3,547 yards, 22 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. One of the most memorable moments of his career came in the NFC Divisional Round, where he passed for 318 yards and led a thrilling 29-24 victory over the New Orleans Saints, including the famous 61-yard connection with Stefon Diggs. Seven years later, Keenum is moving on to his next chapter with the Bears.

The Vikings were eventually defeated by the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship, who went on to win the Super Bowl. In the offseason, Keenum signed a two-year contract with the Denver Broncos but has since struggled to replicate the success he had with the Vikings, becoming a journeyman quarterback. His most recent stint was with the Houston Texans in 2023, though he spent that season on injured reserve.
