The Pittsburgh Steelers are once again addressing a major need at wide receiver, which is among their top priorities this offseason. After failing to land a big name last year, they ended up relying on players like Mike Williams and Van Jefferson, but those moves didn’t work out. Now, with a need for a legitimate complementary weapon opposite George Pickens, the Steelers are exploring options in free agency and the trade market.
Bob Labriola from Steelers.com mentioned that the team will “explore a lot of possibilities” for a veteran wide receiver, especially someone who can be a top-of-the-depth-chart player. While it’s unclear whether this means pursuing trades or free agent signings, the Steelers are expected to be aggressive. Potential targets include Brandon Samuel, Cooper Kupp, Amari Cooper, Stefon Diggs, and others.

General Manager Omar Khan’s attempts to plug the hole last offseason didn’t fully succeed, and the lack of a consistent No. 2 receiver hurt the team. With plenty of talent available and enough cap space and draft capital, the Steelers are in a good position to address this need, but the success of their strategy will depend on how aggressive they are in pursuing these options.
