However, the Yankees will need to be cautious about how the season finishes, as one of their top players is set to become a free agent at the conclusion of the year.
Star outfielder Juan Soto will be a free agency after the season, and he is anticipated to sign a large, potentially historic contract on the open market. Last offseason, New York traded for Soto in the hopes of re-signing him to a long-term contract, but nothing has happened yet. Initially, Soto and his agent, Scott Boras, appeared open to the possibility of signing a contract with the Yankees during the season. However, that appears to have deteriorated, and everything points to his becoming available for free agency this winter.
Soto recently made some statements about his imminent free agency, implying that he would let Boras take over the offseason.
“We’ll see. During the offseason, we will work things out. I’ll let Scott Boras do his thing. “We’ll see.”
In addition to the Yankees, teams such as the New York Mets and Los Angeles Dodgers may want to participate in the bidding. Soto is one of baseball’s youngest stars, so we should expect a bidding war for his services.
Despite his current statements, Soto has previously discussed his positive experiences with the Yankees. Soto appears to be enjoying his time in the Bronx, which could aid the Yankees in their efforts to keep him this winter.

He has helped transform the Yankees offense into one of the most devastating units in baseball, so New York should do everything they can to retain him around long term.
