Breaking: Talented member of the LSU reportedly enters the transfer portal

Thatcher Hurd, LSU’s right-handed pitcher, has entered the transfer portal after two seasons in Baton Rouge, On3 Sports reported on Tuesday.

Hurd, the Tigers’ opening-day starter in 2024, is coming off a rough season in which he went 3-4 with a 6.55 ERA in 18 appearances, nine of which were starts.

The high point for Hurd at LSU came during the 2023 College World Series when he was the winning pitcher in the deciding game of the championship series versus Florida. He limited the Gators to two runs on two hits in six innings, striking out seven and walking two in the Tigers’ 18-4 victory.

Hurd started his college career at UCLA in 2022, going 2-0 with a 1.06 ERA in nine games, including six starts.

The Horned Frogs bolster their front row for the 2024 season.

TCU volleyball has announced three new signings for the upcoming 2024 season. Among them was Alexis Roberson, a former LSU middle blocker from Missouri City, Texas. Roberson spent two seasons with the Tigers, participating in 50 sets across 14 matches as a redshirt freshman last year. Throughout the 2023 season, the 6-foot-3 middle blocker recorded 67 kills, 40 total blocks, and 12 digs. Roberson redshirted in 2022.

Roberson will address a need for the Horned Frogs, who will welcome back middle blocker Sarah Sylvester from the 2023 roster. TCU lost three middle blockers, including Bri Green (graduate student) and Lydia Seymour, who went to Georgia Southern after a single season. Zoe Hall is no longer on TCU’s roster for the 2024 season. Samiyah Abdur-Rahim, a redshirt freshman, is the only other middle blocker returning from 2023.
