After holding a big recruiting weekend right before the dead period, the Oregon Ducks received their first verbal commitment from the group on campus. The Ducks headed to Maryland to sign one of the region’s top cornerback prospects for the 2025 class.
4-star cornerback with a 6-foot-2 frame Brandon Finney has verbally committed to the Oregon Ducks, just two days after ending up his official tour to Eugene with his family.
The commitment is significant for the Oregon Ducks, who are attempting to replenish and retool a secondary that might have its top four cornerbacks leave the program and enter the NFL following the 2024 college football season. Finney will join the group in 2025, and he will be able to contend for playing time immediately.
With the addition of Finney to the 2025 class, Oregon currently has ten verbal commitments. Finney becomes Oregon’s third defensive prospect and the first cornerback prospect in the class to pledge.
Now that Finney has committed, Oregon is ranked No. 18 in the Top 25 for the 2025 recruiting class, up from No. 29. Finney becomes Oregon’s eighth verbal commitment listed in the Top 247 by 247Sports.
Hudson Standish of 247Sports offered an updated scouting report from about a month before Finney committed to the Oregon Ducks.
Finney finished his junior season in 2023 with 22 tackles, three interceptions, and 51 receptions for 632 yards and four touchdowns.
247Sports ranks the 6-foot-2 cornerback as the No. 220 player in the 2025 recruiting class, the No. 25 cornerback nationwide, and the No. 4 talent in Maryland.
