Four-star interior offensive lineman Champ Taulealea committed to Washington on Thursday, becoming the Huskies’ first blue-chip prospect of the 2025 recruiting cycle. The Valley Christian High School standout from San Jose, California, is the eighth athlete to verbally commit to Washington, and the second in the last three days.
Devin Hyde, a three-star edge rusher from Menlo Park, California, committed to the Huskies on Tuesday.
Taulealea picked the University of Washington over offers from Arizona, Arizona State, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Michigan State, Oregon, Oregon State, Penn State, Tennessee, Texas, UCLA, and USC, among others.

According to the 247Sports composite rankings, the 6-foot-4, 325-pound offensive lineman is the No. 26 player in California, the No. 15 interior offensive lineman, and the No. 281 player overall.
Taulealea represents Washington’s second offensive line commitment. The Huskies and offensive coordinator Brennan Carroll have also received a commitment from three-star interior offensive lineman Jake Flores of San Juan Capistrano, California.
